Decision of the Senior Selection Committee Meeting held on 31^st July, 2026

QUOTE “After detailed deliberations, following decisions have been taken by the Senior Selection committee members on the Selection procedure to select the Senior Bengal Team (Men & Women).

1)        As per decision taken in the WBBA Council Meeting held on 27^th December, 2025 the Senior Bengal Team shall be selected on the basis of taking Eight (8) Top Players in both categories (Men & Women) from Singles events to play amongst themselves on League basis before being selected.  The Top Eight (8) players will be divided in two groups (for both Men & Women) – 4 Players in each Group.  A Lottery will be done in front of the Players to decide players to be divided into two(2) groups (A & B).

2)        The Top Two (2) Players from each group shall be selected for the Bengal Team both in Men’s & Women’s categories – thus Four (4) players get selected from Two (2) groups in Men’s & Women’s category.  Out of these Four (4) players, top Two (2) Players shall play for First & Second position and the rest Two (2) players shall play for Third & Fourth Position.

3)        In case of tie, with equal points earned by players during the group matches, result of Winners in the Group matches already played between these two players, shall be taken into consideration for final selection.

4)        For Selection of players for 5^th to 8^th position, players shall play between themselves on League basis.

5)        Above Selection procedure shall be applicable for both Senior Men & Women Teams.

6)        For paired events (Men’s Doubles, Women’s Doubles & Mixed Doubles), Top Four (4) pairs shall play as League matches amongst themselves to decide for 1^st to 4^th position.

7)        Selection Trial shall take place at Star Badminton Academy, Harinavi from 14^th to 16^th August, 2026 from 10 A.M.” UNQUOTE
